Pastor Bill Carney 

Pastor Carney is the son of Barbara F. Carney of Central Islip, New York and the late William R. Carney.  He was born in Jamaica, New York City, on June 29, 1959. After High School, he traveled to West Virginia to attend the University of Charleston in Charleston, West Virginia.  He left there after two years to finish up his college education at Concordia College in Bronxville, New York, graduating in May 1981 with a BS. in Music Education, K-12; majoring in voice. In the fall of 1983 he enrolled at Concordia Lutheran Seminary, St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. In the fall of 1985 he began his Vicarage at Alpha Lutheran Church of the Deaf in Rochester, New York.  He finished his Vicarage on July 31, 1986 and graduated that fall.

In April of 1986 Pastor Carney received his first call to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Britton, South Dakota where he served there until February of 1989. In March of 1989 he was installed as the Assistant Pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amityville, New York.  In June of 1993, after the death of the Senior Pastor, he was installed as the Senior Pastor and served there until June of 1995. In June of 1995 he began his ministry at Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Lockport, New York.  After 10 ½ years at Mount Olive, Pastor accepted the Call to serve as Pastor at Hope Lutheran Church in Levittown, Pa until coming to Hawaii. He was installed as the Pastor of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on August 28, 2011. Pastor Carney has served the Eastern District (LCMS) as District Secretary, Circuit Counselor and Reconciler…he also serves the Synod as a Hearing Facilitator.

Pastor Carney is married to the former Donna Werth of North Tonawanda, New York.  Pastor and Donna are blessed with three beautiful children:  Melissa, Heather, and Thomas.  Melissa is married to Brian Maxwell and lives in Crown Point, Indiana.  They are also expecting our first grandchild!  Heather is also living in Crown Point and works as a Manager at Joe’s Crab Shack.  Thomas is attending Temple University this fall, majoring in Archeology and Anthropology.

Donna is a graduate of Concordia College in Bronxville, New York.  She graduated with a BA. in Teacher Education, N-9.  She has taught at Nazareth Lutheran School in Buffalo, New York; at Trinity Lutheran School in Hicksville, New York; at St. Paul Lutheran School and St. Matthew Lutheran School in North Tonawanda, New York.
