Our Redeemer Lutheran School
and Lutheran High School of Hawaii
Our Redeemer Lutheran Church presides over two schools: the Our Redeemer Lutheran School (K-8) and the Lutheran High School of Hawaii.
The mission statement of the Our Redeemer Lutheran School (ORLS) is:
"Connecting children with Jesus in a nurturing and challenging academic environment."
ORLS offers Christian education from Kindergarten through
Grade 8 with plans underway to establish a Pre-School. Lutheran High School of
Hawai`i, located at the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church campus on University Avenue
is owned and operated by an association of local LCMS churches, which include
Our Redeemer, and offers education for grades 9-12.

ORLS is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). The current enrollment is close to 200. Although the enrollment of member children has been increasing over the past five years, the majority of the students are recruited from the local community. About 30% of the students are from other Christian denominations and about 50% are non-Christian. A majority of the faculty and staff of ORLS are active members of Our Redeemer and greatly contribute to the integration of the church and the school.
In addition to a rigorous academic program that features the phonics-based Open Court reading program in lower grades, the Core Knowledge Curriculum throughout K-8, students have regular education in religion and weekly Chapel Services (Wednesday mornings).
Our school is especially noted for its excellent music elective program. There are several occasions where the school and church community may interact including song and music performances by the students at regular church services and yearly events such as the Christmas Musical and the Spring Concert.
ORLS also participates in inter-scholastic volleyball and basketball leagues in Grades 5-8 as well as a Science Fair, Geography Bee, Spelling Bee and arts competitions. Before and after school care programs are also offered by the school.
Our church and school support the enrollment of member children by offering a 50% tuition discount.
Meanwhile, the mission of the Lutheran High School of Hawaii is:
"...to provide a quality Christian education for life by meeting the spiritual, academic, physical, aesthetic, social, and emotional needs of its students."
Spiritual - To give students the opportunity to learn of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and ensure a setting where the Holy Spirit can strengthen the faith of those who already believe in Him.
Academic - To provide a college-preparatory education as well as support for vocational competence, promote critical thinking, effective communication, and independent work while appreciating the wisdom and order of God's creation.
Physical - To help students recognize that the human body is a gift of God, and that they have a God-given responsibility to develop and maintain good mental, physical, and emotional health.
Aesthetic - To foster a lively and continuing interest in the fine arts and other cultural aspects of life as reflections of the infinite beauty of God.
Social - To offer students a Christian setting that encourages wholesome social relationships, as well as the development of values, attitudes, and social skills that are characteristic of people who have respect for authority and who are considerate of the feelings and rights of others.
